Intercollegiate photo contest ‘The Spirit of the City’ kicks off
As part of the activities of the Buonarroti Residence and in collaboration with the Directorates of the Colleges on Campus and the Residences in Milan, a new in-depth course entitled ‘The Spirit of the City’ is being launched, the first concrete step of which is a new intercollegiate photography contest, promoted and supported by the Fondazione per il diritto allo studio.
The photo contest is open to all the students of the Colleges on Campus and the Residences in the City of the Milan campus of the Università Cattolica. The focus insists on telling through a photograph, taken with one’s own smartphone, the values hidden behind the details of Milan and its inhabitants, trying to communicate the spirit hidden behind a photogram: to return to talk about mercy in everyday life, starting from the narration through images of the university faculty they belong to.
At the end of the contest, a jury will be called upon to identify the three best shots, which will be awarded a prize on the closing evening.
The journey will end in May with a theatrical monologue by Lucilla Giagnoni open to the entire university community, in the courtyard of the Buonarroti Residence, in an event that will also feature an award ceremony for the best shots and a photo exhibition set up for the occasion.
The aim of the course is to offer students the opportunity to confront the value dimension in search of growth and to connect the spirit of the city to their studies.
